Pretty good on Tsurenai Kanojo no Hitorijime
It's really well written. Like, I kinda hate the recursive hellcircle that is the average shojo. Those dreadful traps where a continuous cycle of perpetual romantic tension is constantly and artificially kept up for 900 chapters, always on the brink of bearing fruit but stopping an inch of actually getting developed, until, GASP. We have a confession. Great job, buddy! Now only another 500 chaps to hold hands, just until the Miscommunication Arc where they break up and/or he loses his memories and goes to Guatemala or something.
This one understands me. This one really said "fück them indecisive bit****, we going raw". And I appreciate that. I also appreciate the marvelous characterization, and the even better character development we get during the story. ML is a nice but somewhat inexperienced airhead, while FL is a lonely and gnarly brick of a person. I love her. It's one of the rarest archetypes in the genre, "the quiet but bold deadpan girl". Her best quality is how sincere she is.
That's the main attractive. That, and the charm of their nascent relationship, colored by the distinctive and delicate tones of first love. Also, for your sanity, I would advise to just consider them adults. Japan has this frankly embarassing and fuc*** up obsession with schools and early adolescence, but these two are actually written as young adults, not teenagers. Their body proportions too. It's like those sitcoms where the cast has an average age of 36 years old and still the setting is high school musical. Not working for me dawgs. These mfs are kinky af. When I was in my first year of highschool I still watched cartoons, ffs. It's not really about the sm**, anyway, but yeah. Yikes.
I just wish this high quality of writing and the cast's nuanced quirks could've been used in a more... Comfortably non problematic way. But oh well. Still, reccomended.
